Over the weekend, the St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel hosted their First Communion Retreat, Come to the Table. Parents and First Communicants deepened their understanding of Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and fostered a devotion to the Eucharistic in their hearts.
Fr. Tom and Mrs. Jenkins (along with many St. Rita High School student assistants) were blessed to have 57 students, preparing to receive Jesus for the first time, and their parents gather for a day focused on Christ's Sacrifice in the Eucharist. Families participated in conversations about the sacraments; Christ's love for us; the Sanctuary, Altar, and the Tabernacle.
Participants took time to pray, sing, eat, complete crafts, and play!! A second day of retreat will be held on Saturday, April 1st at the Shrine. For more information, call the Shrine at 773-925-6600 ext. 6667.
